General information

Since 2006 I represent the German Wound Healing Society (DGfW) in the EWMA organization. In the last years, DGfW made enormous efforts to develop and promote several evidence-based wound healing projects. In first line stands an evidence-based education curriculum for nurses and doctors which was accepted by 78 different academic, research, medical and nursing wound-care societies, as well as by patient groups.
A unique achievement in Germany up-to-now. In an accredited certifying process, according to European rules, the participants receive a certificate already accepted by various education centers and hospitals all over Germany.
DGfW has been also working on an evidenced-based guideline concerning the topical treatment of chronic wounds in patients with severe risks.
It is true that in Europe we are becoming more and more ”European” through common regulations, from consumer rights up to a common currency; but there is still one big gap among countries to be closed in one key field: Health!
Every country has its own, normally loss-making Health System and we are far away from creating a common European ‘consumer rights’ in health.
Because there is already an European agreement to accept different educations and specializations in health, I believe that one of the most relevant fields in which projects on an European level could bring benefits concerns health education.

Therefore I see great opportunities in an educational or training program or activities like EWMA University Conference Model (UCM).
I would like to contribute to the educational process by offering the evidence-based work we have done in Germany to EWMA.
But, in order to set up educational programs, not only a curriculum is needed. Due to my knowledge gained during the years I worked at DGfW, I could offer my experience from fund-raising to implementation of an educational program to the EWMA Organization.
